What exactly did Bae contribute?

Bae Ji-hwan (Pittsburgh Pirates) has gotten some of the worst reviews of his career.

Pittsburgh Baseball Now (PBN) recently took a look at Pittsburgh's 40-man roster and tackled Bae with the question, "What exactly has he contributed?"

"A somewhat enigmatic figure, Bae is currently one of six competent middle infielders on the roster, but he's been pushed to center field and has looked uncomfortable there," the outlet wrote, noting that "the way he catches the ball is awkward and makes fairly routine plays difficult." They also pointed to his shaky defense.

"Where Bae will need to showcase himself is at the plate and on the basepaths. "His strikeout rate (8.1 percent) was around league average, but he struck out 24.8 percent of the time at the plate. Additionally, his BABIP of .296 was well below league average, which is concerning given his profile."

He continued, "Bae stole 24 bases on the season. Early in the season, Pittsburgh was extremely aggressive on the basepaths, and Bae seemed to thrive in those situations." "(But) eventually, opponents figured out how to catch him, and his aggressiveness didn't continue to pay off like it did early in the season."

"Pitchers' pickoff moves were too much for him to handle, and what looked promising turned into a liability." "Bae was caught stealing nine times. The nine thrown out attempts are tied for eighth in all of MLB. Pittsburgh eventually stopped giving Bae the 'green light' to steal."

It continued, "Bae missed a month and a half with a sprained left ankle while playing defense. In 35 games since returning from the disabled list, he's stolen just four bases in seven attempts." He also took a shot at his baserunning ability.

"Bae's strikeout tendencies, lack of on-base skills, and lack of power leave a lot to be desired for Pittsburgh," he said. "If he can't find a way to capitalize on his 카지노사이트 potential, there are probably more capable options who can earn a starting spot. We don't know who that is yet, but we'll find out in spring training in 2024."

It's a warning that if you don't show improvement in spring training, you'll be pushed out of the starting lineup. It's a wake-up call.
