Guardiola accepts national team call-up... or not "I want to be a World Cup manager"
Pep Guardiola talks about his dream.
"Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has expressed his desire to lead the national team at the World Cup before ending his coaching career," British media outlet Goal.com reported on March 23 (KST).
Guardiola, who is under contract with Manchester City until 2025, is open to the possibility of coaching the national team in the future. The 53-year-old has been in contact with several national teams, including Brazil, England, and the United States, but he has decided to stay away from the national team and focus on managing clubs.
However, Guardiola has said that he would like to manage a national team because he believes it would be an important milestone in his coaching career to lead a national team at a prestigious international tournament such as the World Cup, Euro, or Copa America.
When asked if Guardiola has any goals to achieve in the future, he said: "The national team. I want to train the national team for the World Cup or the European Championships, that's 바카라 what I want."
When asked if he had a national team in mind, Guardiola said: "I don't know who would want me. To work for the national team, they have to want me, just like the clubs," he said. Guardiola's dominant performances at the helm of Barcelona, Munich, and Man City would mark another change in the soccer world if he were to take charge of the national team.
However, Guardiola emphasized that he hasn't set himself the goal of winning the World Cup, Euros, or Copa America. "I never thought about that (winning the World Cup). When I started this job, I never thought about winning the league or winning the Champions League," he said.
"I want to experience the World Cup, the Euros, the Copa America, any tournament, I want to do it, I don't know if it will be in five years, 10 years, 15 years, but I want to experience coaching at the World Cup," he added.
Guardiola is a master among masters, having lifted 37 trophies during his managerial career, including three Champions League titles. He is second only to Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson, who won 49 trophies.
