Seongnam begins fan outreach program with local elementary schools in partnership with Seongnam City
Seongnam FC, in conjunction with Seongnam City, will host the 'Visiting Seongnam FC Soccer Class' to promote healthy physical activity among students in the Seongnam area.
The program, which targets more than 3,000 second graders in elementary schools in Seongnam, is a program in which Seongnam FC visits elementary schools in the Seongnam area and interacts with students through physical education classes.
Last season, Seongnam piloted the 'Magpie Together' program, in which Seongnam FC players visited elementary schools and met with more than 500 elementary school students in the Seongnam area. The program included fun soccer recreations with the players, fan autograph sessions, and English soccer programs with English-speaking players.
As a result, the number of elementary school students and families attending each game increased, creating a virtuous circle of community engagement activities that led to home game visits last year. As an extension of the program, the club plans to organize a "visiting Seongnam FC soccer class" with the city of Seongnam.
The program, which is run in conjunction with the Future Education Division of the Seongnam City Hall Education, Culture and Sports Bureau, was highly competitive, with over 50 schools applying in advance through the Seongnam Future Education one-click system. Through this program, Seongnam hopes to attract young fans and family fans in earnest and turn them into longtime fans of the club.
The program will run for eight months, from April to November, with two sessions per class. The first session includes warm-up exercises to prevent injuries and learning the basics using a ball, while the second session includes recreational activities and mini soccer games to build physical fitness while bonding with classmates.
Kim Young-ha, CEO of Seongnam FC, said, "As a civic club, we are pleased to work with Seongnam City on this project for local students. Seongnam FC aims to instill new dreams and hopes in the hearts of children beyond the sport of soccer. We will strive to contribute to the local community through various social contribution activities and collaboration with Seongnam City."
Meanwhile, the club has been engaging with many Seongnam residents through various customized community programs, including the 'Visiting Seongnam FC Soccer Classes' and 'FC Futures' with the Korea Professional Football Association and EA.
