Demo Trading as Real Skill Training

I’m trying to understand why so many traders recommend demo evaluations instead of jumping straight into live markets. If the environment is simulated, how can it truly reflect real trading pressure and decision-making? I want to know whether following strict rules in crypto, forex, or indices actually builds discipline, or if it just feels like a game. Is the real benefit learning consistency over time, or simply chasing the idea of managing larger capital without personal risk?
