How does MMAE exert its cytotoxic effect?

Monomethyl Auristatin E (MMAE) functions as a tubulin polymerization inhibitor. By binding to tubulin, it disrupts the formation of microtubules, which are essential for cell division. This leads to cell cycle arrest in the G2/M phase and ultimately triggers apoptosis (programmed cell death).
